A 19th-century merchant's house rebuilt around Lisbon light.
Sable House occupies a former textile merchant's townhouse above the Tagus. The brief asked for a hotel that felt inherited rather than installed, so the palette was taken directly from the building's own bones: smoked oak, lime plaster in three warm whites, and azulejo fragments recovered during the strip-out, reset as thresholds between public rooms.
Thirty-four rooms are arranged in eleven layouts, each one drawn around its own window. Lighting follows the Atlantic day — cool and generous in the morning salons, low and amber by the time guests return from dinner.
