Onyx Sky

A bar on the 46th floor where the city is the only artwork.

Onyx Sky is deliberately dark. Forty-six floors above Toranomon, the design's job was to disappear: charred cedar, black-patinated steel and a floor of honed basalt keep every surface below the horizon line, so the room reads as a shadow and Tokyo reads as the exhibit.

The bar itself is the one lit object — a single eleven-metre pour of backlit onyx, its glow calibrated nightly against the city's own brightness by a preset astronomical clock.
